Anatomy of a Tom Call – Part Two

According to one of their websites, “Maximum Security Alarm is the largest Authorized Monitronics Dealer in the nation serving California, Colorado, Ohio and Pennsylvania. We are the sales, installation and service arm of this business.”

So to be crystal clear, Monitronics does NOT have a direct sales force to market or install alarm systems, they depend on third-party dealers to do the heavy lifting.

Tom has been calling a long, long time indeed!

While I have been getting calls from Tom for most of 2011, it seems that he has been busy calling people for years now. During my investigation I discovered complaints at 800notes.com from October 2009 from individuals about Tom and “Home Protection” and the selling dealer, in this case from CA.

Caller ID info (likely spoofed) linked to “Tom”

Here is a preliminary list of phone numbers (displayed on Caller ID as reported on various web sites such as www.numberguru.com , www.callercomplaints.com , 800notes.com ) that are linked to “Tom”.

I have NOT personally received calls from every number, but they all reference “Tom, with home protection” in the complaints.

We Must Stop Tom!

I know that you get these calls too. They start with “Hi, this is Tom with Home Protection” and quickly work to qualify you as a sales lead for a home security alarm dealer. I’ve been getting these calls for quite some time now and I’m just fed up. The more I attempt to get off their calling list, the more calls I get. Not just from “Tom” but from all sorts of vendors. Once they realize the number is in service, the hammer dialing begins.
